8:30pm
Today was a fabulous day! It was our first day at the Villaflora center, working construction and bible school. We worked with two wonderful groups of children; one in the morning, the 2nd in the early afternoon. We took their photos ("smile big!"), painted t-shirts & bags, tie-dyed shirts and made cruz necklaces.
All of this fun, of course, was accented with English & Spanish bible stories. The performance of the day came from the Team HOPE Troupe - consisting of Greg, Ricky & Mike re-enacting the David & Goliath story multiple times to allow for a few different Davids to slay the giant (Mike)!
The guys were right outside the door, coming in to help us out with the kids when they needed to take a short break. The kids were so fun. They just smiled and hugged us and thoroughly appreciated everything we had for them to do. Katie, Alex & Stacey had them singing Jesus Loves Me & other songs, and playing London Bridge.
The guys made great progress outside, getting more done today than expected!
Afterwards, a few of us went to the market and the Calhouns & Richard spend some time in "Old Town." Now we are congregated on our floor, telling tales & massaging sore shoulders. Soon we'll have the evening devotional and turn in. Tomorrow is another big day!
More pictures soon.
